Why the Call To Act - Voter Dedication

As Dr. JD Mass listened to a planning meeting of Clergy leaders from across the United States speak about the concerns regarding the US Supreme Court Judgement to dismantle the Voters Rights Acts of 1965, two thoughts came to mind:

One is that Dr. Martin Luther King didn’t just march and give speeches. He led movements that impacted the economics and comfort of white societies that wanted the work of black bodies, but not to recognize them as humans worthy of liberation.

Just as the Black Panther Party was not a threat to kill white folks, the police, or cause harm in white communities. It was an empowerment movement to build stronger, healthier communities where everyone is fed, housed, and cared for. So what is the problem with black communities seeking liberation and to be self sustaining?

As JD sat there listening, as one of two less melanated people on this call to action, he thought what can he call on white folks to do. There are many of us who want racism to be over. Yet with this recent reminder, we can clearly see that it is not. If votes are systemically being taken from black communities, then why don’t we dedicate ourselves to voting on their behalf.

How to participate?

The original call out to call in. Since this video, the idea of Voter Dedication 2026 was created.

Ways to Get Involved

Learn to understand

Study the history of voting rights, civil rights, economic inequality, and civic participation in America. How many immigrants and lower economic white folks benefited from laws passed during the Civil Rights Era.

Listen to hear

Attend community forums, conversations, and events hosted by organizations serving impacted communities. Ask your black friends and colleagues what are important issues and who has their best interest.

Engage to become effective

Research local issues and candidates. Understand how policy decisions affect neighborhoods and families. Ask yourself and others why are black communities often ignored by candidates, told what to do, or targeted for discrimination and harm.

Volunteer to serve

Support voter education efforts, community organizations, youth programs, and civic initiatives.

Participate to see change

Vote in local, state, and national elections with awareness and intention to represent black communities near you.

Build Community with intentional healing

Create conversations across racial, cultural, generational, and political lines focused on solutions and shared humanity.

This is not about democracy nor what you think is right

There are many reasons to question our call…

We have rigged Selections not Elections

My vote doesn’t matter

Both sides serve the same master

We no longer have a democracy

Or

I know what and who to vote for

I want what’s best for everyone, not just black folks

This is a call, not for democracy or what’s best. This is a call for building community by extending a hand where it is clear to see that government is being used to silence and stifle black communities from having access. We must shift how we see government. They are not our leaders, they are our servants. If we begin to give up something of ours that is being taken from our fellow humans, we will see a shift in our own humanity. We will learn more about our abilities to be a part o creating the life we want for us all. We will learn more about a people we have been raised to hate, feel sorry for, or scared of. This is our opportunity to enjoy life as part of the healing process.

HERE IS OUR GREATEST CHALLENGE - Over the course of the last 400 years, anti-blackness has been the target of colonialism. Not just with violence, not just with slavery, also with mental manipulation. We recognize that the education, media and entertainment, job markets, and financial world are designed to raise black children to feel less hopeful that they have opportunities for successful lives.

Black folks are not the only targets. White folks are raised to see themselves as the builders of the free world. We are raised to believe that we are separate from bad apples and others are easily grouped into behaviors. Most importantly, we are raised to compete with other groups and see black success as a threat to us. We see their problems as theirs to fix, even when we know it is our systems that cause them.

What we are often blinded to is that nowhere have black organizations, black political leaders, countries that are majority black occupied, ever tried to harm innocent white folks the way that they have been harmed and no where have a group of black folks suffered more than in the US. It is on us. JOIN OUR MISSION and DEDICATE YOUR VOTES 2026!

Our Target Audience

Voting doesn't matter

Non Voters

Think of it this way, this is your form of protest. This is your way to tell the system F(orget) you. This isn’t compliance. You are not giving in. You are fighting back.

You are still not voting for yourself. You are using your vote to show the system you care about those being attacked.

We understand
Immigrants vote civil rights

Asian and Latinx Voters

Whether you are from LatinX countries, Middle East, Southern, or Northern Asia. We are calling on you for two reasons.

Your ability to migrate here has much to do with the Civil Rights Era fought and bled for by Black Americans.

Some have been able to set up stores, hotels, restaurants, etc. in black neighborhoods, where the community that live there have been denied ownership.

It is your turn too
Liberal Progressive Voters Rights

White Progressives

We know you want what’s best for everyone. This is a call to trust that black communities know what is best for them.

We have a lot to learn about how to be good people, good allies, not racist, etc

There is a great chance that we will see the world we want by having more decisions made by the ones we have targeted to hold back.

It's not about us

White conservatives

This is a friendly reminder that black folks have not caused your problems. No one can take your jobs. Jobs are applied for and given to folks.

We know you are struggling with the rest of us. Take an honest transparent look at who are the ones making your life difficult. Ask yourself where you learned your responses. Believe black folks when they tell us they just want equality not revenge.

We know you are hurt too

No matter what you see as wrong with our society, it was most likely not designed by or influenced by black culture. This call to action is about seeing what the results are when we actively participate in lifting the voices of those who the system designers want to keep quite.

What do we have to lose but our chains that hold us back?
